Hello!
Last Thursday we decided to be lazy and go out for tea. It's becomming a bit of a theme on a Thursday - probably cos it's supposed to be my evening on the treadmill but for one reason or another, I couldn't be bothered with that either.
Anyway, on my way home from work I drive past the High Park in Bradley. On Thursday I noticed they had a new(ish - I think...) sign advertising 2 meals for £10. Bargain. We've eaten there a couple of times before and it's was nice enough, so I suggested it to the dear wife and she could hardly contain her excitement at the thought.
So, up we roll (with Oliver Bear as well). I order a pint of Becks Vier and Tra opts for the lemonade (awww, school night!!).
Not only do they offer select items at 2 for £10, they seem to have revamped the whole menu, and, for the prices they are charging, it looks well worth the value.
I'm trying to think what was available on the 2 for £10 menu.... they had lasagne, veg lasagne, steak pie, mini grill, burger plus one or two other things which I've forgotten now. I went for the mini grill (lamb steak, pork steak, a sausage, some liver, an egg and some chips and peas) while Tra went for lasagne. I was also a piggy and opted for some extra garlic bread with cheese. And another Becks Vier.
It didn't take very long to come (so quick that Tra and Bear were still playing in the play area, so it looked like I had ordered 2 meals and a kiddies meatballs and spaghetti all to myself. Thankfully, they wandered back in after a minute or so.
So... the meal... the lamb steak was reasonable but fairly thin and had a lot of bone, still, it was tasty enough. The pork steak was lovely, though again pretty skinny. The sausage was, well, sausage like... not bad. I even had a bloody good go at the liver which was dry, but I guess it pretty much always is. The chips and peas were nice enough - you don't get squillions, but I didn't want squillions so that was okay. The side of cheesy garlic bread was a lovely, huge portion, really moist, cheesy and garlicky as well... for less than £2 too. Ace.
Tracey's lasagne came with salad and garlic bread, it looked nice, but again, not huge - it soon got demolished so can't have been that bad!
So, when all is said and done, what did we think?
Well, for £10 you really can't go wrong. The portions are not massive, but they are never going to be. The food was warm, well presented and well cooked. No complaints whatsoever.
I think we are there again later this week, hope it's as good this time around.
So go for it... if you fancy a cheap meal out, I'd thoroughly recommend you try High Park in Bradley, you know the one... the big one opposite the golf club!
I'm going to score it like they do in Olive Magazine:
High Park, Bradley - 7/10
Thanks for reading.
